Chinook can fly high

CHINOOK KEWELL, a beaten favourite last time, can make amends in the A1 550 at Curraheen Park tonight.

This seven-times winner completely mistimed his exit last time and is probably better judged on the form that saw him card 31.33 over 575 yards here in June.

Favoured by an inside berth, Chinook Kewell can bounce back at the expense of Clearwater Jack.

The latter is a winner of 13 of his 33 outings but hasn’t been firing on all cylinders recently and has a trap four draw with which to contend as well.

Meanwhile Stephen Wadsworth can add to his ever increasing tally of winners by turning out Compass Sam to land the Smiley Murphy A4 Stakes final at Youghal tonight.

The selection boasts an impressive 37.5% strike-rate, winning 12 of his 32 starts. He is unbeaten in the stake to date, following up a 29.13 first round run with a 29.31 effort last week.

Compass Sam delivered from an outside berth last time and can again cheat the draw. Knockard Lusk looks the danger.
