After exciting performances in Paris and London, the former European indoor champion dropped out midway through Tuesday’s 3,000m at the Herculis Grand Prix in Monaco. Olympic team manager, Patsy McGonagle, was in contact with Cragg yesterday and he is currently under the care of the Irish team doctor, Dr Bill Cuddihy.

“I spoke to Alistair by telephone this morning and there is some concern about his Achilles,” McGonagle said.
