Top ten target for Loughnane

OLYMPIC race walker Olive Loughnane claims she is in “really good shape” ahead of next month’s Olympic Games in Beijing.

Loughnane was yesterday joined by Olympic 800m hopeful, David Campbell and Ireland’s newest 400m sensation Brian Gregan for the launch of the weekend’s Woodie’s DIY Senior Track & Field Championships in Santry.

Just back from a training stint at Font Romeau in the French Pyrenees, Olympic 20km race walker Loughnane, has been logging an average of 120 kilometres a week in training for Beijing. The Galway woman recently received a major boost when finishing 6th in the World Cup for Race Walking in Russia in a new personal best time of 89.17.
