McCloskey ready to take the next step

PAUL McCLOSKEY finally gets the perfect opportunity to advance his career into the realm of world class boxing when he meets former WBC world lightweight champion, Cesar Bazan, at the Letterkenny Leisure Complex tonight.

The 28-year-old Dungiven light welterweight will headline his own bill and he knows only too well that he must win to take that vital step up the ladder that will take him to a shot at a major title this year.

McCloskey has been peddling his talents in the shadow of the likes of Bernard Dunne in recent times but promoter Brian Peters is satisfied that he is now ready to take centrestage.
