Cycling union to sue Pound

THE International Cycling Union (UCI) is set to sue former World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president Dick Pound for “continual injurious and biased comments” against the world cycling’s ruling body and its ex-president Hein Verbruggen.

“On many occasions Mr Pound has publicly questioned the extent of the UCI’s efforts in the fight against doping,” said UCI in a statement, adding that the case would be heard in Swiss courts.

Mr Pound, also a former International Olympic Committee vice- president, stepped down from his WADA post in November after seeing out the maximum two terms in office.
