Foot injury forces Tuohy to withdraw

NIALL TUOHY (Yeats College, Waterford) has withdrawn from Saturday’s KitKat Irish Schools cross-country championship at the Dartfield Equestrian Centre in Loughrea.

The Munster schools champion has problems with his feet since the Munster championships at Tramore Racecourse. The following week he ran 8:28 for 3,000m at the Munster junior indoors in Nenagh and he aggravated the injury again at the national inter-counties championships in Belfast.

“I told him that it would be unwise to risk any further aggravation,” coach Jerry Deegan said. “But it was left up to himself and I think he has made the right decision.”
