Show jumper returns to Olympics after 44-year break

At 67, Hoketsu has his sights set on a high ranking, writes John Tynan Equestrian Correspondent.

RECORDS are synonymous with the Olympics and Japan’s Hiroshi Hoketsu is set to create his own bit of history in China in August when he returns to the games after a 44-year break.

Hoketsu’s first and last outing came in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, in which he finished 40th in the show jumping contest.
