ATHLETICS Ireland have been in touch with the Department of Foreign Affairs asking them for assistance in getting Martin Fagan’s status rectified so that he can re-enter the US and pursue his Olympic dream.

The 24-year-old Mullingar athlete was looking at his options yesterday as he resigned himself to the fact that he won’t be lining up for the Houston Marathon next month.

He was refused re-entry into the US at Philadelphia Airport on his return from Madrid where he had been representing his country at the European cross-country championships on Sunday.
