Rising star Flying Winner stands out

RISING staying star Flying Winner stands out in heat one of the Bookmakers Open 750 at Curraheen Park tonight.

Pat Dalton’s ace lines up here on the back of a record breaking run over this trip at Clonmel in midweek.

Flying Winner sliced .21 spots off the record set by Dromana Blue the previous week when landing the Suirside Stayers Open 750 in a brilliant 41.26 on Thursday.

As that was only his fifth run over the marathon trip and only his eighth in all, Flying Winner has scope for improvement and has to get the vote.

Iflookscouldkill, the Galway track record holder over 810 yards and a fair second over this trip at Tralee last time, rates the likely alternative.

Dromana Blue, a five and a half lengths runner-up behind Flying Winner in midweek, is sure to be popular in heat two but preference here is for Templenacro Dubh.

The pair met four times at Shelbourne last month and the score stands 3-1 in Templenacro Dubh’s favour.

Clearly running at the top of his form and well drawn in trap six, Templenacro Dubh can confirm his superiority.

The improving Afternoondelight, who showed the opposition the way round when carding 28.88 last week, can land the second semi-final of the Office 1 A2 BG Stake.

The ultra-consistent Castlelyons Fred, impressive when carding 29.15 last week, looks the part in the opening semi-final.
