THE days of sports disputes being settled in the country’s courts could well be at an end, with the establishment of an independent and specialised dispute resolution authority.

Set up by the Federation of Irish Sports, Just Sport Ireland (JSI) can come into play when a sport’s own procedures have not been able to resolve a dispute to the satisfaction of both parties.

“There is an urgent necessity in sport for speedy resolutions and this is the perfect mechanism by which it can be achieved,” said Michael Collins, vice-chairman of the bar council.
