JOHN DUDDY will have a new opponent when he headlines the Celtic Tigers bill at the National Stadium on October 20 and matchmaker Tomás Rohan says it may be a man who has fought for a world title.

Duddy’s original opponent, Pablo Navascues, the Spanish light middleweight champion, withdrew because of an ankle injury.

“We have been looking at three possible opponents, one whom fought for a world title,” Rohan said yesterday. “Brian Peters is abroad and as soon as he gives his approval we will be announcing the replacement. But, while Navascues was another step up in class for Duddy, expect this opponent to be even stronger.”
