ACCORDING to famous psychiatrist Dr Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, there are five sequential stages of grieving; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

When a friend from the BBC rang me with the news at 11pm on THAT night, the denial only lasted minutes, followed by meltdown on every news and sports channel.

I didn’t think I would ever get over the ‘anger’ stage, but it was over very quickly and I have accelerated past ‘bargaining’ and straight into ‘depression’ and have remained there since.
