Ardrath Boy can set record straight in Kasco final
John Kiely’s dual winner was baulked last week and, in the circumstances, ran a cracker to get within a neck of Bellers Boy in 29.60.
A wide margin 29.08 winner on his penultimate start a fortnight ago, Ardrath Boy can bounce back here.
The progressive and well drawn Bellers Boy merits respect but the biggest danger may loom in the shape of Heathfield Dan.
This fast-improving sort made it two from two in the stake when making all in 29.43 last week, having posted a 29.19 effort in the heats. As the lone wide seed, Heathfield Dan looks booked for a dream run and has to be feared.
Kiely can also collect with the highly promising Gold Mein in the second semi-final of the Smiley Murphy A4 Stakes.
A game 29.48 winner on his debut last month, Gold Mein followed up in style last week, recording a runaway 29.20 success.
He is clearly an exciting sort and a trap four draw is unlikely to halt his progress.
Blakefield Rapid, never headed when carding 29.40 in the heats, rates the pick of the opposition.
The opening semi-final can go to Blackwater Jet. He turned in a career best effort when scoring in 29.43 last time and has sound claims from a trap two draw.
Rewop Sam, who finished strongly when posting a 29.63 effort, should again be thereabouts.
