UNDISPUTED welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr brushed aside Ricky Hatton’s calls for respect ahead of the December 8 showdown between the undefeated boxers and warned the Englishman, “we’re at war”.

The two fighters will touchdown in England this morning for the final legs of a five-day tour to promote their Las Vegas pay-per-view fight. The pair had traded insults in Los Angeles and Mayweather’s family hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan, before landing in New York City yesterday.

Hatton, the undisputed light-welterweight champion from Manchester with the 43-0 record, used a round-table interview session with reporters before the main press conference to deride his rival’s lack of respect, adding that taking a media tour with the American was “like spending a day with a six-year-old.”
