Kewell the percentage bet in Champion Stakes final
Chris Coady’s ace has made the frame in all bar one of his 18 starts, winning eight times. And Rebel Kewell’s record in the stake reads two from two, following up his runaway 30.32 first round success with another clear-cut 30.06 victory last week.
Clearly on the upgrade and better drawn in trap two (he ran from traps four in the earlier rounds) Rebel Kewell looks certain to make a bold bid. Skywalker Melody heads the list of dangers. Trained by Frances O’Donnell, Skywalker Melody advertised his claims when carding 30.23 and looks booked for a clear run on the outside.
Clogheen Lark, beaten at odds-on in the semis, can bounce back in the Red Mills A3 550 Stakes final.
A trap-to-line 30.39 heat winner, Clogheen Lark failed to start in the same slick manner when beaten half a length by Prima Factor in 30.92 last week. She can bounce back here at the main expense of the in-form and well drawn Honcho Valley, who posted a 30.58 run last week.
The Track Supporters A3 Stakes decider can go to the fast-improving An Seanbhac. This fellow showed his rivals a clean pair of heels when making it five wins from 10 starts in a career best 29.23 last time and makes plenty of appeal from a rails draw.
Kranky Bowler, always prominent when a two lengths runner-up behind the selection in the heats, should again be thereabouts.
