Kürten claims spot in decider

A CLEAR round for Jessica Kürten on Castle Forbes Libertina yesterday put the Antrim-born rider through to tomorrow’s final for individual honours at the European Jumping Championships in Mannheim, Germany.

Kürten is in 10th place and lines out as one of the top 25 riders after three days of competition.

Compatriot Marie Burke and her home-bred stallion Chippison placed third in yesterday’s grand prix qualifier.

The win put her top of the rankings for riders not competing for an individual medal.

The Clare woman was dropped in a surprise move by manager from the Irish team on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the team gold went to the Netherlands yesterday, after they overhauled Germany.

Britain took bronze.
