Hyland out after sparring injury

THERE has not been a punch thrown in anger but already Cork’s Billy Walsh has made a dramatic impression on the forthcoming professional boxing show at Cork City Hall, erasing talented Dubliner, Patrick Hyland, from the programme.

Both boxers where to feature on the star-studded bill staged by Nowhere to Hyde Promotions on Saturday, August 18, but Hyland suffered a cracked rib in a sparring session with Billy Walsh last Friday and is now out of the show.

“It is very unfortunate,” promoter Gary Hyde admitted yesterday. “People don’t realise how seriously the boxers take those sparring sessions and there is always the danger that something like this will happen.
