Contador savours ‘dream’ triumph
Contador carefully negotiated the 20th and final stage of the Tour to hold off the challenge of rivals Cadel Evans and Levi Leipheimer and claim the biggest prize in cycling.
The Discovery Channel rider encountered no problems in maintaining the 23-second lead he had over Evans going into yesterday’s 146km stage, a largely ceremonial trek from Marcoussis to the famous Champs-Elysees in the centre of Paris.
