The world indoor 60m hurdles champion and European silver medallist at 100m hurdles was joined by the double European indoor 400m hurdles champion, David Gillick in Cork City Hall yesterday when Lord Mayor Michael Ahern launched what promises to be another spectacular afternoon of athletics.

“Cork is a big one for me,” she insisted. “Outside of the world championships it is the biggest thing. I know you have the Golden League, but you are never as nervous as you are at home where I know everyone. I know the starter. I know the basket girls. It is a really big deal.”
