Quins and Cork C of I eyeing Euro qualification

THEY had a wildly contrasting season in terms of achievement, but both Cork Harlequins and Cork Church of Ireland go into this weekend’s men’s senior club championships in Dublin with one aim in mind — qualification for Europe.

That process begins tomorrow evening when they attempt to make next weekend’s knockout stages with C of I taking on hosts Pembroke Wanderers and Harlequins playing Cookstown.

The respective coaches, Neil Welch for C of I and Harlequins’ Stephen Dale, are well aware of what lies ahead and both will be making best use of recent results as their main motivational tool.
