Witter gunning for showdown

JUNIOR WITTER has labelled Ricky Hatton a “bully” and a “coward” as the war of words between the British rivals rumbles on.

Witter, the reigning WBC light-welterweight champion, has spent the last few years unsuccessfully trying to lure his more high-profile compatriot into a domestic showdown.

“I will go on and secure my own legacy, but I think he’s acting like a coward and it’s annoying me,” he said yesterday. “I think he’s a bully and likes to pick his targets and he doesn’t want to pick me.”

Both fighters are in action on Saturday when Witter defends his title for the first time against Arturo Morua in London and Hatton challenges Juan Urango for his old IBF belt, which he won from Kostya Tszyu before vacating last year.
