Tanyard thwarts Becks’ hat-trick attempt
The runner-up had been successful in All-Aged Cups at Abbeydorney and Kilmallock this season and was favourite in yesterday’s final to add to his tally. However after leading for most of the way he was caught in the closing stages and beaten three lengths for the opening score by Whytanyard Paul, who got in for a further score afterwards to take the prize.
Having being runner-up to Murty’s Shadow in the final of the Derby Trial Stake at Glanworth this season, Gaytime Chesney went one better in yesterday’s Derby Trial Stake. In the final he came up against Ned’s Express and, coming from behind, got up to take the initial points by a length and had a further score afterwards.
