Warrior Woods retains title after pulsating battle with Johnson

CLINTON WOODS claimed a split-decision victory over Jamaican veteran Glen Johnson to retain his IBF light-heavyweight title after a 12-round thriller at the Bolton Arena on Saturday night.

“Road Warrior” Woods extinguished memories of his two previous failures to beat the 37-year-old by roaring through the final three rounds to edge a verdict.

Judge Mickey Vann scored the contest 115-113 in favour of Johnson but American Richard Bays (115-112) and Roberto Ramirez (116-112) found in favour of Woods.
