Burke 24th in Germany

MARIE BURKE failed in her bid for WEG glory when going out in the penultimate round on Saturday.

Having lowered just one fence in three preceding rounds with her stallion Chippison, the Clare woman went into Saturday’s competition in 10th place of the 25 riders to progress.

However, she then accumulated 25 faults — five fences knocked, major trouble at the water and one time fault — to finish in 24th place.
