Our most prolific scoring winger was on the bench for the second game against New Zealand, but when the side desperately needed a try winning score against the All Blacks, he was passed over in favour of a defence oriented player, Girvan Dempsey.

Making matters worse, Hickie was banished from the panel entirely for the game against Australia in Perth. Clearly Eddie O’Sullivan doesn’t agree with the sporting philosophy that ‘attack is the best method of defence.’
