Major leads home Hennessy 1/2 in ‘Macroom’

THE leading owner/trainer combination of P J Fahy and Paul Hennessy struck again at Curraheen Park on Saturday night when Tyrur Major made off with the winner's prize in the final of the Macroom Motor Services Stakes.

Major leads home Hennessy 1/2 in ‘Macroom’

The pair haven't looked back since winning last year's Cashmans Laurels with Tyrur Ted and could well have an interesting candidate for this year's renewal of the classic in Tyrur Major, who clocked a personal best of 28.41 on Saturday as he led home a 1/2 for Hennessy in the event.

The winner led on the rails at the opening bend from Buds Lightning and the favourite Dustin Fox.

There was a little over a length covering a group of five down the back straight but Tyrur Major was always holding sway and although kennelmate Volcano Joe ran on strongly in the closing stages he was still three quarters of a length down at the line.

On the undercard, Get Out Mac completed a four-timer in heat 3 of the June A2 550 Stake.

The winner, the 5-4 favourite, made all the running and eased home seven lengths clear of his rivals in 29.95. Get Out Mac has now won five races for trainer Mick Hoy, having been without a success from nine races when joining Hoy's kennel in March.

The trap draw for the Glengarriff Stakes semi-finals is:
