Astral Sailor makes waves at Currraheen sale

LONDON buyer Steve Spiteri paid the top price at yesterday’s Curraheen Park sale when he went to €4,600 to secure Astral Sailor from Innishannon, Co. Cork owner John O’Connor.

The brindle son of Deenside Equity had been an impressive six lengths winner of his pre-sale trial when he carded 19.35.

Michael A. Walsh, who paid the top price of €9,500 at the previous sales, was again very active yesterday. He bid the next best price of €4,100 to get Jerry Murray’s (Dunmanway) black and white bitch, Drompark Vieri, a 29.49 winner of her trial. He also secured Gneeves Major, who will join Jim Fenwick at Brough Park, for 1,900 from Cyril Hickey and laid out €1,700 for the bitch College Saoire, the property of Frank Culloty from Killarney. Frank also parted with a litter brother of College Saoirse, College Takeover, for 3,100 euro to English buyer Sean Mulgrew after he had won his trial in 29.00.
