Dott on the brink of world title glory

GRAEME DOTT closed in on his first 888.com World Championship crown after maintaining his iron grip on the best-of-35-frame final against Peter Ebdon.

The 28-year-old Scot has had to live with being in the shadows of Stephen Hendry, John Higgins — his recent practice partner — and, to a lesser degree, Stephen Maguire.

But the Glasgow Rangers fan needed to win only three more frames during last night’s session to triumph after opening up a 15-7 advantage over the 2002 world champion.
