Ahane Lad breaks hock in trial at Cork

THE action at Curraheen Park on Saturday night was overshadowed by a serious injury to Ahane Lad in a trial before racing.

The Ger McKenna trained dog, recent winner of the Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park, broke a hock in a spin around the standard trip.

One of the country's leading trackers, Ahane Lad, who had won a sweepstake at the venue last December, came to grief early in the trial. He was having a spin around the circuit in preparation for a tilt at an Open 525 at a benefit meeting at the track next Thursday night.
