Doherty crashes out to Swail

KEN DOHERTY became the latest high-profile casualty to be sent crashing out of the Grand Prix at Preston’s Guildhall.

The former world champion squandered a 4-2 lead over his fellow Irishman Joe Swail and went on to suffer a 5-4 defeat.

“I’m very disappointed, but I missed some really good chances to win it. When you get chances like that you’ve got to put them away - and I didn’t. I played well, but I couldn’t close out the match,” he said.
