Silverstone safe until 2006

The British Formula One Grand Prix will remain at Silverstone until 2006 after the circuit operators gave assurances over the development of the venue.

The British Racing Drivers’ Club have secured the future of the race after promising F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone they would continue to upgrade facilities at the circuit.

Ecclestone had criticised Silverstone after it was left behind by improvements to other circuits and new venues coming on to the F1 race calendar. But Ecclestone has given his blessing to the race after meeting with the BRDC’s ackie Stewart and representatives of the Government.
