Institute hit back to win share of points

CATHOLIC INSTITUTE ladies staged a great comeback to share the spoils with Bandon in the O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bar sponsored Munster Senior Hockey League at Bandon on Saturday.

The six goal thriller saw the home team lead 3-1 at the interval with Ruth Kingston, Laura Crowley and Karen Barry netting - Sally Ann McAuliffe responding for Institute.

Bandon had some fine opportunities to extend their lead but it was the visitors who finished the better, and goals from Aine McCarthy and Keely Cantrell earned them a deserved draw.

In another MSL clash, champions Cork Harlequins easily overcame University of Limerick (5-1). The tie featured a hat-trick by Julia O’Halloran.

The action next weekend focuses on the Odlums Irish Junior Cup with the following ties down for decision: Greenisland v Cork Harlequins; Enniscorthy v Clontarf; Corinthian v Ashton; Glenanne v Old Alexandra; Coleraine v Hermes; Belfast Harlequins v Pegasus; Ards v Diocesan; Pembroke Wanderers v Wexford.
