Cian sample mystery ‘an almighty mess’

THE SENSATIONAL theft of part of Olympic winning show-jumper, Waterford Crystal’s B sample, has been labelled “a sinister development” by Equestrian Federation chief Avril Doyle.

Ms Doyle was commenting on revelations yesterday that the B sample taken from the horse of Athens gold medallist Cian O'Connor was stolen en route from Paris to a laboratory in Newmarket in England.

She told RTÉ radio she had been "misled" by the FEI, the equestrian governing body in Lausanne.
