Vinnie’s winner tests positive for banned substance

BOAVISTA, who walked away with this season’s Coursing Greyhound of the Year award after an unbeaten season, has tested positive for a prohibited substance following his victory in the Irish Cup, which carried a prize of €80,000, at Kilmallock, Co Limerick, three weeks ago.

The revelation came yesterday in a brief statement issued by the ICC which read: “Following analysis of samples taken for drug testing purposes at the recent Irish Cup meeting, a positive result has been received involving the winner of the Irish Cup.”

The news will come as a huge shock to the joint owners of the dog, the Curtin, Jones and Gould syndicate - the Jones being none other than former soccer hard man turned film star Vinnie Jones.
