Raiders maintain unbeaten record after bruising battle with Buffalos
The score was 21-21 at the half, with Buffalo scoring three times in the second stanza to make it interesting. Buffalo went ahead for the first time in the third quarter, 24-21, but a rare mistake by Bills' quarterback Drew Bledsoe led to Oakland’s fourth touchdown midway through the third. Undaunted, Bledsoe took the Bills 80 yards on their next possession for a 31-28 edge.
Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon then found Charlie Garner, who rambled 69 yards for his second score to put Oakland (4-0) ahead again 35-31 early in the fourth quarter. The Bills were driving again when rookie Raiders corner-back Phillip Buchanon picked off a scrambling Bledsoe and took it back 81 yards to make it 42-31.
