Sports Council set to introduce blood testing

THE Irish Sports Council are to introduce blood testing in the fight against doping.

The Council's Irish Sport Anti-Doping Programme, which was launched in 1999, has utilised urine testing as the primary source in their procedures.

However, blood testing is the most effective way of discovering substances on the international banned list and Irish authorities are keen to use such cutting edge technology.
