Lara vows not to quit
England won the second Test by 256 runs at Edgbaston with more than a day to spare but Lara, in his second spell as skipper of the slumping Caribbean side, said he will stay on in the job - at least until the end of the current four-match series.
“It’s impossible to even think about that at the moment. I have the job to do as captain until the fourth Test at The Oval. My employers will decide whether or not I step down,” said Lara.
“I am committed to West Indies cricket. I was asked back to do this job and I am doing the best I can.”
Spinner Ashley Giles took five wickets to lead England to a victory which gave them a 2-0 lead in the four-match series.
On Sunday, the West Indies had been bowled out for 222 with only Chris Gayle, who scored 82, offering any resistance.
