Final Test for England

England’s experienced middle order continued to play an influential role in the final Test yesterday and guided the tourists within reach of salvaging a draw against West Indies at the Recreation Ground.

Final Test for England

Resuming the final day aiming to bat out the 90 overs and prevent West Indies claiming a morale-boosting victory, England were once again indebted to the experience and know-how of Mark Butcher and former captain Nasser Hussain to ensure they did not endure a tense climax to the series.

The pair forged an unbroken 71-run partnership spanning 19 overs and their resolve and composure in a tight situation once again reaped rewards for England as they reached 345 for two at tea with a minimum 31 overs to withstand before the close.
