Passmore pleased with Irish progress

LAST WEEK’S fine victory at the Tri-Nations men’s hockey tournament in Cork proved to Ireland coach Dave Passmore that the Irish team has great potential as it continues its preparation for the European Nations Trophy in Rome from September 11-17.

Passmore pleased with Irish progress

Passmore was very pleased with the standard of hockey displayed by the younger players in the squad: “Last week’s matches proved that there is plenty of competition for places and this is pleasing from my perspective and I will be keeping a very open mind. Passmore has announced his squad for a series of matches against Scotland in Aberdeen from June 10-12.

“Scotland will offer a different style of play from Italy and Canada and will prove a tough test. However, the Tri-Nations gave us the opportunity to develop our style of play against good opposition and this will hopefully pay off.”
