Athletes in new pay dispute

Athletes represented by 10 members of Association of Athletics Managers will not compete in the Ostrava Super Grand Prix next month following a payment dispute.

Organisers for the meeting in the Czech Republic on June 9 are reported to owe more than €145,000 to AAM athletes following last year’s event.

Non-payment was also a major issue last year when appearance fees and other prize money from 2003 was not paid until a month before the event took place.

The International Association of Athletics Federations, which allows Ostrava to operate under its umbrella of Grand Prix meetings, has been notified of the action taken by the AAM.
