Red Ovation can take the applause at Glin

RED OVATION is a hopeful choice to land the Derby Trial Stake at Glin, Co Limerick.

There were some promising performances in yesterday's opening two rounds, though none of the 16 remaining really stood out.

At the top of the draw Palamar had two good wins yesterday and should account for Cooga Supreme in the third round.

He may then, however, have to give best to Hey Big Boy an impressive winner of his two courses yesterday who should account for Strideaway Razor this morning.

The second quarter looks extremely open. Brazil Mick can overcome Low Darlie and Lisduff Boy may get the better of Dantes Reef. I give Brazil Mick the vote to make it to the final day.

Jobys Concorde looked good in both runs yesterday and should come out of the third quarter.

At the bottom of the draw there should be an interesting tussle between Rattle The Cage and Blue Boston this morning, with the latter given slight preference while Red Ovation, who did nothing wrong yesterday having six lengths to spare over Glory Rio and eight lengths over Doctor Sykes, should get the better of Jimmy Clap.

I go for a Hey Big Boy - Red Ovation final with the latter fancied to take the honours.
