Alonso hopeful Renault can go up a gear with new car

SPAIN’S Fernando Alonso is out to improve this season on a memorable campaign in 2003 when he raced into grand prix history

Alonso became the youngest driver to win a grand prix when he triumphed in Hungary last August to give Renault their first victory as a manufacturer for 20 years.

The highly-rated driver was just 27 days beyond his 22nd birthday when he lapped Ferrari's Michael Schumacher on his way to victory in Budapest.
