Top writers vie for Irish Sports Book of the Year award

THREE of Ireland’s top sportswriters are in contention for the inaugural Boylesports Irish Sports Book of the Year award.

The trio are Christy O’Connor for ‘Last Man Standing (O’Brien); Denis Walsh for ‘Hurling: The Revolution Years (Penguin) and Dessie Farrell/Sean Potts for ‘Tangled Up In Blue’ (Townhouse)

O’Connor’s Last Man Standing details the tough and often thankless life of the hurling goalkeeper. The author had unique access to 12 goalkeepers over one season, and tracked their highs and lows in the number one jersey.
