Williams wins at World Dart Championship
When world number nine Warriner arrived at his hotel he unpacked his suitcase to find he had left his darts in Carlisle, which meant an emergency journey north to retrieve them.
His partner Brenda’s parents drove with the darts from Carlisle to Knutsford services on the M6 and met the couple, who then headed straight back to Essex and did not return to the hotel until 4.30am yesterday.
The dash up and down the motorways clearly took its toll on Warriner, who produced a dismal performance to lose 4-1 in the all-Lancashire third-round tussle.
