Draw no help to Matthews Irish Cup trio

NORTHERN owner Brendan Matthews was out of luck when the draw for the J. P. McManus Irish Cup was made at the Bogue Inn Tralee on Sunday night.

His three representatives - Bar Time, Multibet and last year's winner Courthouse - are in the bottom of the draw, with two of them scheduled to meet in the quarter-finals.

Bar Time takes his chance in the third quarter while the Champion Stakes winner Multibet and Courthouse are at the bottom of the draw and, all going well, they would have to meet in the quarter final. If Bar Time wins the third quarter he would face the winner in the semi-final!
