Pietersen departure adds to England’s woes

ENGLAND batsman Kevin Pietersen has become the third player to return home from the tour of Pakistan after suffering a recurrence of a rib injury.

The Hampshire player visibly struggled throughout Monday’s defeat in Lahore, leaving the field before the end of play.

England’s backroom staff had hoped Pietersen would be able to continue to be involved in the tour after a cortisone injection but that has not proved to be the case.
