Swim Ireland announce Prime appointment

BARRY PRIME has been appointed Swim Ireland’s first National Performance Director.

Prime, who will take up his new role next month was a Senior Swimming Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport for eleven years. Prior to his time with the Australian National team he coached Great Britain, Nigeria and Peru at World Championship and/or Olympic levels. He has attended six Olympic Games in total.

Said Swim Ireland chief Sarah Keane: “The appointment is an integral part of our Strategic Plan and a huge step forward for Swim Ireland and Irish Swimming as a whole. It is important that we build upon the success of the past and create a professional environment for our best young swimmers to excel in their chosen sport.”
