TIM DUNCAN put up numbers worthy of a champion with 25 points as the San Antonio Spurs beat Detroit 81-74 on Thursday to win their third NBA championship in seven years.

Having lost the last two games, San Antonio rallied in game seven to join the Chicago Bulls as the only team to go to the best-of-seven finals three or more times and win every series.

The Spurs, hosting the first NBA Finals seventh game in 11 years, ended Detroit’s dream of a second crown in a row before a sellout crowd of 18,797.
