THERE were no miraculous comeback this time as National Cup champions UCC Demons remained on course to retain their Super League crown when they put a poor first quarter behind them to defeat Gleneagle Lakers 120-109 at the INEC Killarney last night.

The last time the sides met in Cork, Lakers staged a remarkable final quarter recovery to claw back a 32 point deficit and score 49 points for a sensational win.

This win moves Demons closer to clinching the Southern Conference on a 12-2 record while Lakers remain a game behind Limerick Lions for that second spot on 9-6.
