Crescent and Mount Mercy in final repeat

HOLDERS Crescent Comprehensive take on Mount Mercy in a repeat of last year’s decider in the Coca-Cola Munster schoolgirls senior hockey cup final at Villiers School, Limerick today (2pm).

Clare Hickey was the Limerick school’s matchwinner in last year’s 1-0 success and is one of the players coach Sean O’Callaghan will be looking to as they bid to win the cup for the second time in the schools history.

Other players he will look to for big games are Ciara Storan, Ruth McKenna and Jennifer Egan.

Crescent have already defeated Mount Mercy in the league final and will start slight favourites.

It is Mount Mercy coach Cyril Daunt’s last senior cup final and the Cork school will want him to bow out on a winning note. Daunt will be looking to Julia O’Halloran, Cliodhna Sargeant, captain Jean Long and Audrey O’Flynn to see them through.
